As a Project Accountant, you will assist in preparation, reporting, and analysis of projects, performing many of the administrative tasks required for the seamless execution of complex, high-dollar projects. They are responsible for leading critical efforts such as subcontractor joint check, contract and state compliance, subcontract payment processing, project accounting, financial analysis and finishing projects strong with the accounting closeout process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and project accounting support to the project management team.
  • Take the initiative to complete project requirements and to contribute to the team’s success.
  • Assist the Project Manager with construction activities as needed.
  • Process and follow-up on urgent items.
  • Verification, review, and approval of supplier lien waivers.
  • Joint check documentation, correspondence, and processing to manage financial risk.
  • Communication with subcontractors regarding supplier lien waivers, pay application payment status, and accounting closeout procedure.
  • Track and process subcontract billings, receipts, and approvals.
  • Process out of sequence and early pay requests for subcontracts.
  • Prepare payment batches.
  • Financial reporting to executive management including owner billing and cash flow tracking.
  • Complete job cost adjustments.
  • Review and interpret prime contract general conditions, billing requirements, specified labor rates and equipment rates.
  • Manage/Oversee the creation and administration of subcontracts, purchase orders, task orders, and consultant agreements.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the change management process, including generating and distributing SCOs and CORs through final processing of contract COs.
  • Perform project accounting duties, assisting project managers with interfacing change orders, drafting or auditing client billings, create misc. client invoices, reviewing and coding vendor invoices, and tracking/verifying subcontractor progress lien waivers.
  • Assist subcontractors with GCPay, adding and linking/integrating subcontractors, creating a schedule of values.
  • Assist Project Manager with accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Oversee project closeout processes (i.e. final cost reconciliation, financial closeout, waiver tracking, closeout documentation).
  • Other accounting support is needed.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook and accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of construction accounting, financial, administration, project management and/or basic accounting skills including an aptitude for numbers (desired).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, enabling precise organization and management of multiple project tasks.
  • Skilled at problem solving; resilient and determined to find or create solutions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment must be able to meet deadlines

  • Constantly operates a computer, including keyboard, mouse and other components including power tools.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel to remote office buildings or job sites as needed.
