Electrical Service Technician

The Electrical Service Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, customer service, and a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, including wiring, lighting, panels, motors, and control systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections to ensure electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Install new electrical systems and upgrades, including conduit runs, service panels, circuits, lighting, and equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, recommend solutions, and ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours logged.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and company safety policies.
- Use and maintain testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed, including after-hours or weekend availability.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and project managers on larger service jobs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical training preferred.
- Valid state journeyman or master electrician license (if required by jurisdiction).
- 3+ years of experience in electrical service work, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC and OSHA safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, confined spaces).

- Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, whether individually or in a team environment, are vital aspects of the role.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company policies, are necessary for performing work safely and effectively.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to remote office buildings or job sites as needed.
