The Electrical Procurement Engineer at ESI is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with business partners, becoming a subject matter expert on our clients' processes and procedures, and providing comprehensive support to electrical project management teams. The goal is to ensure all electrical procurement activities are conducted in accordance with guidelines and best practices, contributing to the successful completion of projects.

This role is based at our headquarters in Meridian, Idaho.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with electrical business partners, suppliers, and clients.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for procurement-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders for electrical.

  • Facilitate effective communication between the electrical department and other departments.

  • Schedule, attend, take notes, run, and follow up on meetings related to electrical procurement activities.

  • Gain a deep understanding of our clients' processes, procedures, and requirements.

  • Stay updated on the elctrical industry trends, standards, and best practices relevant to procurement.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve elctrical procurement processes and strategies.

  • Collaborate with electrical project management teams to ensure procurement activities.

  • Align with project timelines and budgets.

  • Assist in the preparation of electrical plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.

  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to secure favorable agreements.

  • Ensure all electrical procurement activities are documented accurately and in compliance with company policies.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of electrical procurement activities, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence.

  • Conduct regular audits of procurement processes to ensure adherence to guidelines and identify areas for improvement.

  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to procurement activities.

  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the electrical procurement function.

  • Provide training and support to team members on electrical procurement best practices and procedures.

  • Creation of look ahead and delivery schedules. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 2 years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of procurement principles, contract management, and supply chain management practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have basic understanding of cash flow.
  • Knowledge of vendor terms and conditions.

Physical Demands 

  •  Flexibility in working hours may be required, including evening and weekend work as needed.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Constantly operates a computer, including keyboard, mouse, and other components including power tools.

 

Travel Requirements 

  •  Occasional travel to remote office buildings or job sites as needed.
